I'm a one wheel girl and to be honest I've never tried any other wheels other than Ashford traditionals. BUT THEN I tried Mandie's beautiful Ashford Country Spinner and the results... considering it was a first spin in uncharted territories, were delightful.
Of course Mandie's rovings here are so beautifully hand-dyed that I could have dragged 'em behind a train and they would still be so pretty. hehe... She has other rovings for sale at her eBay store called Ewe- Give-Me-The-Knits.
I kept Mandie and her adorable kids company as she set about discovering her spinning Mojo...and for a thankyou she gave me an amazing gift. (And a yummy lunch!...I'm so spoilt!!)
Now to go off on an irrelevant tangent...I was mentioning to Tye the other day...I'm not a superstitious person at all...but one little practice I do indulge is to "touch wood" if I think about something a little bleak. When I touch wood I instantly stop thinking about it and move about my day. It kinds of realigns my thought patterns. It got me thinking maybe this is why there are so many people out there who are drawn to the medative delight of spinning with our beautiful timber spinning wheels. Just a thought.
Anyway..thanks for logging into Sheepychic bloggings...and thanks to Mandie for a fun day. All the best with your spinning.
Best wishes, Ruth..xxx Of course any yarn enquiries can be sent through to Sheepychic AT hotmail DOT com. Bye for now...

I totally agree with you on that one dear!
And that yarn is spectacular!
That yarn is spectactular both the dyeing and the spinning - I agree.
I also love the wheel... I can't afford Ashford so I have a Babe Big Mamma Jamma (not his name but it is my pet name)which looks about the same size in the bobbin. I call them the papertowel holders. They are huge.
It free's you to make whatever you want because you no longer have to focus on will it fit in the hole. You can just spin, small or big, but spin whatever you want.
I also agree with the negative thoughts. It seems to me once you let them in your life they multiple like baby bunnies. I had that right before the show - I was nervous.
And finally for the big news - Earlier this week, I got your dye off in the mail. It was delayed due to root canal prior to show, but it will be there in 7 days, or so they tell me. Let me know when you get it.
I hope you like it, you will be the sweetest smelling chic around! It is fun. You can mix colors too. Even though the generic brand does'nt say "Kool Aid" on it, it is made by the same people, just cheaper. Enjoy and sorry it was late getting off.
Thanks
Holly
You deserve to be spoilt darl you are a beautiful person and we all know it. Maybe I need a spinning wheel to touch on a regular basis I find my head is feeling less and less like wood these days lol.
I really wasn't sure what that roving was going to look like all spun up....until I put it in your hands and you worked your magic!
Your beautiful spirit shines through in your spinning :-)
